This week for our employee spotlight series we talked with Nathalia Delima, our Marketing and Events Associate at Artemis. Nathalia works with different departments in the company to make sure that she creates and delivers the right content for our product and gets the word out to our customers.

Why did you join Artemis?

Nathalia: I joined Artemis, Agrilyst at the time, as an intern. I didn’t know much about indoor agriculture and was curious to learn more about the industry. When I started, Artemis was playing such a big role in the industry that I knew I had to become a part of it and help growers manage their farms more efficiently.

What were you doing before Artemis?

Nathalia: Before Artemis, I was finishing my bachelor’s degree at Baruch College and was interning for a PR/Media company in NYC.

What is your favorite memory here?

Nathalia: One of the memories that sticks out to me happened at our company off-site. The off-site was when I met the whole company in person. I was a bit nervous but excited to meet everyone. During one of our sessions, we were broken up into several groups and were asked to come up with a new idea for our platform and present it to the company. You would think with 5 groups, we would have 5 different ideas. In the end, the teams came up with two similar ideas. Isn’t it crazy to think how the teams came up with similar ideas when everyone had just met each other? It just shows that even though we worked remotely, communication was still happening within the company on a daily basis.

How long have you worked here?

Nathalia: I have been with the company now for 2 years.

What’s your favorite core value?

Nathalia: “We align around solutions, not consensus.” As a team and company, we are always discussing how we can improve our software for customers. The team might not agree on everything but at least we are able to talk about it in an open environment and decide what is best for our customers.

What’s been the weirdest adjustment from working wherever you were before to working here?

Nathalia: Hmm… I think my weirdest adjustment was working at a company where most of the team worked remote. It was a bit strange not meeting everyone in person at first, I wasn’t sure how that would affect work collaboration. All of those concerns went away when I realized that they had a system in place to connect with the team, such as weekly all-hands, gatherings, Friday .gif contests and happy hour/celebrations on Zoom.

What would you recommend for potential future Artemis employees?

Nathalia: Get ready to work with a team that is very hands on about their work and don’t be afraid to ask for help. That’s one of my favorite things about working here, everyone is always willing to step in if you need.

How do you feel about remote work?

Nathalia: I work out of our Brooklyn office in NY and I enjoy the flexibility of being able to work remotely a few days a week. I think that in the beginning I wasn’t sure how I would feel about it, but I enjoy the level of trust and responsibility that comes with it. Being a remote friendly office has made our transition during COVID-19 smooth. It wasn’t hard to adapt since we were already a remote friendly office.

What are you most excited about for the Artemis future?

Nathalia: I’m excited to see Artemis expand both in the industry and as a company. I look forward to seeing us continue to bring effective solutions to growers.

If you had $20 what would you do with it this weekend?

Nathalia: I would get $20 worth of Magnolia’s banana pudding!
