This week we’d like to introduce you to Sydney Davenport, our new Business Development Rep. She has been actively working with our team to ensure growers have everything they need to succeed. We’re excited for you to learn a bit more about Sydney!

Why did you join Artemis?

Sydney: As I learned about the culture and mission at Artemis, I knew it was somewhere I wanted to work. The company’s commitment to creating a more profitable, sustainable and traceable agriculture supply chain stood out to me. I have an environmental science degree with a focus in soil science and have always been interested in technology. Given how closely my values aligned with Artemis’, applying was a no-brainer.

What were you doing before Artemis?

Sydney: Getting my hands dirty! Before Artemis I was working as an environmental consultant throughout Canada. I started in Calgary, Alberta – trudging through wetlands and doing vegetation assessments. That led to Fort McMurray, Alberta where I did spill response and water quality monitoring at an oil and gas facility. After that I moved to Montreal, Quebec where I was helping remediate sites around the province.

What is your favorite memory here so far?

Sydney: Speaking with one of our partners and hearing first-hand how excited they were about Artemis and how much time it’s saved them.

How long have you worked here?

Sydney: Almost 2 months now, time flies! I started in February 2021.

What’s your favorite core value?

Sydney: “We foster an environment of respect and openness.” Leadership’s commitment to these values has permeated the company. This has created an authentic and positive environment for everyone.

What’s been the weirdest adjustment from working wherever you were before to working here?

Sydney: I used to work outside 80% of the time and only 20% in the office. Adjusting to being warm and clean has been a welcomed change!

What would you recommend for potential future Artemis employees?

Sydney: Be genuinely curious and don’t be afraid to ask questions. I’ve found whenever anyone asks a question, it is always a catalyst for a larger conversation.

How do you feel about remote work?

Sydney: It’s great getting to work closely with people from other provinces and states, who I otherwise wouldn’t have met. I think having people from different locations and backgrounds brings a lot of value to the organization in terms of contributing diverse perspectives.

Since we are working remotely, I’ve noticed that everyone makes the most of our time during meetings and is super efficient. I also enjoy the team building competitions, workouts, trivia nights, etc. And to top it all off, I love that my emission-free commute saves me time, money and helps the environment 🙂

What are you most excited about for the Artemis future?

Sydney: Continuing to partner with growers to create a more traceable and sustainable supply chain. We are also continuing to gain more and more traction in both Canada and the US, so I can’t wait to see how our company grows both in the industry and internally.

If you had $20 what would you do with it this weekend?

Sydney: Grab some snacks and head out for a hike!
