We work with select partners across the supply chain who offer growers innovative solutions and support. In an effort to highlight these partners and how we work together, we’re introducing a new blog series where we interview our partners. To kick us off, we are interviewing Lisa Causarano, Key Account Manager, North America at Schneider Electric.

Jon (Artemis): What does Schneider Electric do?

Lisa (Schneider Electric): Schneider Electric is a global specialist in energy management and automation. Present in more than 100 countries, we provide energy and automation digital solutions for efficiency and sustainability. We combine world-leading energy technologies, real-time automation, software and services into integrated solutions for Homes, Buildings, Data Centers, Infrastructure and Industries.

Jon: It might be better to ask what Schneider Electric doesn’t do! Schneider is one of the few major companies who has openly committed to working in the cannabis space and you’ve worked with some of the largest LPs. What are some of the common challenges that Schneider Electric solves for in the cannabis and traditional horticulture industries?

Lisa: Schneider focuses on Seed to Sale within the horticulture industries, focusing on Energy Management (Procurement, Sustainability, Efficiency and Resiliency) and Control Management (Buildings, Environmental, Automation, Power) while being a leader in providing services for regulations and compliance. Schneider can manage both Capex and Opex projects – everything from process design, plant design, construction management, commission simulation to planning and monitoring, tracking and optimizing and asset performance.

Jon: When growers think about Schneider Electric, how should they think about your competitive advantage against say, Priva or Hortimax or the other controls systems on the market?

Lisa: The true value of a Schneider Electric relationship is the ability to achieve a truly holistic solution across a company’s connected products, edge control, services and apps and analytics – we term this “EcoStruxure.” We are the only company in the world able to offer a full suite of beginning to end solutions related to safety, reliability, sustainability, efficiency, and connectivity across operations. Further, our systems are completely transparent and open allowing customers to own their system and data.

Jon: We love this concept of an EcoStruxure. This is exactly how we think about Artemis and our platform ecosystem. We like to dream about fully connected systems that truly give growers a competitive advantage and ultimately create a safer, more sustainable, more profitable supply chain. It’s why we’re so excited to partner with Schneider to build the only connected end-to-end platform for growers.

Lisa: Exactly. A complete Seed to Sale tracking and tracing system connected to an EcoStruxure solution allows customers to make real-time data driven decisions to ensure their operations are the most effective and efficient possible. No one else can do this.

Jon: What attracted you to work with Artemis in this endeavor?

Lisa: With our Seed to Sale offering we need to ensure that all areas are serviced.  Within the traditional agriculture portion of any project, Schneider does not offer significant expertise or solutions.  We can support and control systems but we do not provide an “off the shelf” solution within the growing areas.  Partnering with Artemis allows us to offer solutions, services and expertise that increases our overall value significantly.

Jon: What is the average project size you work on?

Lisa: Schneider Electric works on projects of all sizes, because our capabilities vary so widely – everything from single switchgear orders to large microgrid projects. Within the horticulture segment our average projects are around $1M.

Jon: This is our sweet spot too. Something that differentiates Artemis from its competitors is our ability to support customers across multiple sites, states, and countries. Where are your projects located?

Lisa: With 135,000 employees, Schneider Electric delivers solutions globally and our largest presence is in North America. Some of our largest projects for the cannabis and horticulture industries have been in Denmark and the US (NY,IL and CA).

Jon: How do you define success with your customers?

Lisa: We want to help our customers make the most of their energy and resources, for efficiency and sustainability, by turning ideas into reality.

Jon: We’re incredibly excited about this partnership and offering integrated solutions with Schneider Electric. This is absolutely a market driving partnership and we look forward to leading the way with these solutions. If you’d like to explore the EcoStruxure integrated solutions from Artemis and Schneider Electric or learn more about becoming a partner, you can reach out to us at: sales@artemisag.com.
